Bühler Instructor of Milling :

  The Department of Grain Science and Industry is currently seeking applications for a 12-month non-tenure-track annually renewable position at the Instructor level in the area of milling science and management. As a member of the department’s faculty reporting to the department head, the successful candidate is expected to teach existing undergraduate courses in milling processing, equipment selection and maintenance, and related safety and regulatory issues in the Milling Science and Management program as well as support related programmatic efforts such as student advising, student recruitment, curriculum development, and service on departmental and college committees. As a member of the department’s International Grains Program staff the individual is expected to collaborate effectively with the milling industry and develop and teach innovative short courses, workshops and training seminars. It is expected that the individual will seek extramural support to fund educational programming for industry professionals.

Distance Education Specialist Position :

 

Applications are being requested to join the Department of Grain Science and Industry at Kansas State University for a Distance Education Specialist. This position will manage the day-to-day demands of new distance education programs that are to be developed for the department and its stakeholders.
 

This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of a distance education program. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the development of education materials related to grain handling and processing; and coordination of teaching in the GEAPS-Kansas State University Grain and Biorefinery Operations Distance Education Program. The position will also be responsible for the facilitation and support of additional distance education efforts in coordination with other departmental faculty, K-State's Division of Continuing Education and professional associations such as AFIA, IAOM and others.

Fellow (Post-Doctoral Researcher) :

 Position: Fellow (Post-doctoral researcher) within the Cereal Carbohydrates group

Area of Interest:
This position is involved in working on projects in the area of chemical modification of starch and cereal carbohydrates.  

Responsibility:
The Department of Grain Science and Industry is currently seeking applications for a Fellow (post-doctoral researcher) in the area of chemical modification of starch and cereal carbohydrates. It is preferable for candidates to have prior research experience. Candidates must have knowledge of good experimental techniques. It is necessary and expected for the candidate in this position to perform chemical modifications of starch in the laboratory, develop new modified starches, determine the chemical structure of modified starches and their physiochemical properties, evaluate modified starch in food and industrial applications. Candidates should be skilled in use of computers, and demonstrate a strong track record of research publications in refereed journals. The successful candidate is expected to write reports and manuscripts for publication, and give presentations to industrial companies and at scientific conferences. The candidate must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment. This is a full time, temporary position for 12 months with continuation of this position contingent on the continued funding, satisfactory progress and the need for the services.
